Also known as Lemon-scented Gum, Spotted Irongum, Eucalyptus maculata, Corymbia citriodora, Eucalyptus citriodora, Corymbia henryi, and Eucalyptus henryi, Spotted Gum is actually a common name for species that grow along the east coast from northeast Victoria to the northern tablelands of Queensland.

Spotted Gum is very attractive timber with a slender and straight trunk and smooth bark that is shed in patches. The striking beauty of this wood species comes from the large spot like features on the tree. It’s available in a range of colours from pale brown, to dark chocolate brown, to deep red-brown.

Where Does Spotted Gum Grow?

This superb species grows naturally along the east coast of Australia, from Victoria up the way up into Queensland. Spotted Gum is a collective name used to describe 4 different species called “corymbias”:

 – Corymbia citriodora mainly grows in the coastal area of NSW and southern Qld, but also the western area of southern Qld.

 – C. citriodora occurs in the mid-north coast of NSW to the Windsor Tableland, north Qld.

 – C. maculate is commonly found in the Bega in NSW to the mid-north coast of NSW, with some occurrence in eastern Victoria.

 – C. henryi grows in northern NSW.

Spotted Gum is commercially harvested in New South Wales and Queensland from natural forests and plantations but the best plantation can be found in the soil of NSW. Spotted Gum is gaining in popularity due to its early growth, striking look and amazing properties.
