What Are The Disadvantages Of Hybrid Flooring?

As not affordable as Laminate flooring

Hybrid flooring is indeed cheaper than flooring options such as timber, oak or marble but it’s not as affordable as laminate or vinyl flooring. This is mainly due to the use of more advanced technology in manufacturing hybrid flooring.

Less Authentic

Hybrid flooring may look slightly less authentic. Although it’s very hard to differentiate a hybrid flooring from natural wood or marble at the first look, the printed layer on the flooring is not as genuine as more expensive flooring types.

Needs a Flat sub-flooring

Like any floating flooring, hybrid flooring requires a flat sub-flooring to be installed properly.

It Can Discolour

Although hybrid flooring features UV resistance it can discolour when exposed to sunshine for a long time. So, using curtains or blind is good ideas to protects your flooring from fading.

Can You Lay Hybrid Flooring Over Tiles Or Imperfect Existing Flooring?

Yes, like any floating flooring hybrid flooring requires a relatively flat under-flooring. In general, the sub-flooring can’t deviate more than 3mm in height over 2m in length so that the click-lock system operates properly and does not creak or crack as you step on it.

Does Hybrid Flooring Need Underlay?

The majority of hybrid floorings come with an underlayment layer pre-attached at the bottom. For those without underlayment finding a proper acoustic underlayment is simple. If you want to get rid of sound you can add additional underlayment under your hybrid flooring.

Can You Steam Mop Hybrid Flooring?

No, you cannot steam mop hybrid flooring as it causes damage to floorboards. Instead, you can use a vacuum, broom, damp mop or a pH neutral cleaning solution. This will ensure that your flooring will withstand wear and tears for years.

What’s The Difference Between Hybrid And Vinyl Flooring?

Both hybrid and vinyl flooring make use of a decorative layer to simulate patterns of more expensive flooring and are water and scratch proof. However, hybrid flooring is more rigid and makes a better feeling as you step on it. Unlike vinyl flooring that can damage because of temperature changes hybrid flooring provide more thermal insulation and thus are less prone to cracking or buckling.

How To Care For Hybrid Flooring?

Hybrid flooring doesn’t need much maintenance compared to timber or Mambo. Typically, you will only need occasional mopping, vacuuming, or sweeping. However, it’s very important that you clean stains and spills as soon as they occur. When left on the flooring for a long time sand, dirt or abrasive material can scratch or cause damage to the flooring.

Can I Install Hybrid Flooring On Tiles Or Concrete?

Yes, as long as the sub-flooring is relatively flat hybrid flooring can be virtually installed on any type of sub-flooring including tiles or concrete.

Hybrid flooring one of the new arrivals in the world of flooring products. It combines the rigidity and flexibility of vinyl flooring with advanced manufacturing techniques to maximise benefits and avoid drawback. So, it would be not surprising that we see many people choosing hybrid flooring over the next few years!
