Engineered for Quality
Creating a timber floor that shows character and charm starts with an emphasis on quality. Engineered floors are designed to provide excellent performance characteristics unmatched by solid timber floors.
Engineered flooring consists of a genuine hardwood surface layer bonded to a cross-laminated plywood or high-density core. This layered construction increases dimensional stability compared to solid timber flooring, making it highly suitable for Melbourne’s variable humidity conditions.
Unlike laminate or vinyl alternatives, engineered timber delivers authentic grain depth, natural texture, and the ability to refinish selected products depending on veneer thickness.

Use Cases Across Melbourne Properties
Engineered timber flooring is highly adaptable across different Melbourne property types. In apartments and high-rise buildings, it performs exceptionally well over concrete substrates and can be installed with acoustic underlays to help meet strata compliance requirements. For heritage and period homes, wide-plank oak or premium Australian species enhance architectural character while offering improved dimensional stability compared to traditional solid boards. In new builds and renovations, engineered flooring is particularly suitable for slab-on-ground construction, where solid timber movement can pose risks. For luxury interiors, chevron patterns and extra-wide planks deliver strong architectural impact while maintaining controlled expansion and long-term structural performance.
Engineered Flooring Installation
Professional installation directly impacts longevity and performance. Our installation process includes:
Moisture testing of concrete slabs
Subfloor levelling and preparation
Acoustic underlay where required
Precision glue-down or floating installation

Clean finishing and detailing
Proper acclimatisation and climate consideration are essential for engineered flooring in Melbourne. Our installers ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and Australian standards.

Tried calling these people over the course of 6 months multiple times, as a friend had used them and said they did an ok job. I was willing to throw any amount of money at them to get my house done and they couldn't be bothered to call back. They kept promising me they would call me to book an appointment to come out, never did. After 5 attempts, I stopped bothering. If they can't organise a time to come out for a quote, imagine if you try to get them to rectify an issue...

Exceptional service and care - we had an emergency upon moving into a new house and had to get new carpet installed in the matter of a few days. A1 flooring were beyond helpful - within 24 hours they were measuring and quoting and carpet was installed within 72 hours. Everyone else I called wouldn’t even consider coming out to quote for two weeks, even when I explained the emergency situation. Thanks A1 flooring for getting me out of a pickle! Five stars for old fashioned service and the care factor!!
